Ordering from StockX?

StockX queries are one of the most asked on my page. It’s confusing to most people. What is a bid ? Should I buy it now? Will any customs be charged? etc. Let me try to answer most of these questions with an example.

I recently bought Nike Dunk High Cali (2014), a 6 yr old pair from StockX. The reason I bought it is, it’s extremely rare to find and the pair is of very good quality. I placed a bid 6 months back. Now there are very few available pairs on StockX too, and the sellers want a good premium on their buy, so they don’t accept a low bid till they urgently need money (that’s a collectors mindset).

I used to get my StockX purchases shipped to France address to avoid customs but I changed it this time to my Indian address to see how it goes.

Following is the bill breakup, kindly go through it.

Purchase Price (my bid got accepted at 180 Euros) — $220.06

Import Duties (shipped to India) — $77.02 (34.99% of $220.06)

Processing Fees — $6.60 (StockX fees)

Shipping — $30 (this stays constant and is depended on the size of the box)

Now, the important component is 35% import duties which are basically customs. Before this was not included and one has to pay 50–78% customs, which was quite painful. They have started to include customs and it's hassle-free. I didn't get any call from the shipping company or customs office (my address KYC is done on all major services). It got delivered in 10 days.

Is it worth it?

Yes if your total bill is below 25 K INR. Two reasons behind this, one that customs increase linearly. Second, low-value products pass under the customs radar. I trust StockX but I don’t trust Indian customs, they will hold whatever they want to.

Happy shopping.
